Susan began a new venture this year with her photography by taking action portraits of children and teens
during their favorite sport or activity. These stunning fine art photographs make a memorable gift for a spouse or
grandparent and a treasured keepsake for the child.
Susan Friedland is an Atlanta Photo artist who captures the world through her camera lens with an
unusually keen artist’s eye. Her photography is emotion provoking and elegant in its reverence for ordinary
objects and scenes.
Susan was a young girl when her journey as an artist began. Each week her family took short trips into rural areas
outside of Savannah. They had leisurely picnics and were often joined by a friend who was an artist. This treasured
family friend showed Susan the intrinsic beauty in ordinary items: a broken down chicken coop, a single flower or
blade of grass. Each had a unique beauty in its shape and form and usefulness. These early teachings continue to inspire
and inform Susan’s photography.
Her work is currently being carried by three Highlands, North Carolina galleries. A substantial retrospective of Susan’s
photography was showcased April and May of 2005 at a Chicago area Gallery, Mary Vincent Fine Art in LaGrange. A nature
inspired collection entitled “Pictured in My Mind” was featured in March and April of 2005 at Urban Art
Works in Alpharetta, GA. In October of 2004, Susan completed a month of multiple showings as a featured artist in
the October 2004 citywide festival, “Atlanta Celebrates Photography.” Her photograph, “You Say Tomato”
was the first place winner of the Atlanta Journal Constitution 2002 Travel Photography Contest.
Susan Kazlow Friedland’s work is owned by collectors throughout the Southeast and is in the private collection
of Sir Elton John. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and three children.
